The beach

Aldea beach is located about 10 minutes’ walk from the villa, there is plenty of parking there also. A new bar called “Mello” has just opened (June 2025) which has cool Ibiza vibes.

The closest restaurant to the apartment is called Aldea Bistro, located at the bottom of the hill, it is very good Aldea Restaurant | Manilva | Facebook also there is a shop there that has a lot of what you may need, but note it is rather expensive compared to the other supermarkets nearby.

The Viva Manilva website has a good list of local bars and restaurants Restaurants & Bars in Manilva, Sabinillas & Duquesa | Viva Manilva

Sotogrande

Worth a drive around and maybe a coffee at the marina to see how the other half live! Truth be told there does not seem to be a lot to do there, maybe we have just not found it yet.  There is a tennis club the far end of the marina which has padel courts (expensive and not as good at the ones at Sabinillas), but worth a look.

Puerto de la Duquesa

There are many bars and restaurants here, not so much for traditional Spanish food I say this port is more catered around pretty much every other type of food you can think of, there are a couple of Irish Bars too that show most major sports events such as the English Premier League. There is a good guide to the area on the Viva Manilva website  Puerto de la Duquesa. The American Bar is great for breakfast.

The chiringuitos

There are dozens of beach bars and restaurants “chiringuitos” within walking distance, there are around 12 between the villa and La Duquesa port which is about a 40 minute walk away, or 5 minutes by car.  Our current favourite is called “Chiringuito Manilva Beach” you can book on +34 952 93 68 94 this one is about a 20-minute walk from the apartment. Go for the fish and shellfish cooked over the open fire!

If you are a foodie, a visit to INICIO | Sarmiento Brasa Andaluza | Casares restaurant is a must, the most amazing food and views to die for. Is about 20 minutes away by car.

Porto Banus

Welcome to Puerto Banús | Puerto Banús Lifestyles of the rich and famous! Worth a visit for the superyachts and supercars! (and the nightlife)

Sabinillas

Well worth a visit, there is a municipal sports centre there with padel courts and a well-equipped gym. There is also a “Chiringuito” here where the food is pretty good and the staff are so lovely.

On most Fridays the market sets up on the paseo in front of La Noria apartments and the Sunday market which is much bigger offers more stalls.

From July to late August the Mercado del Mar (Market by the Sea) sets up during the evening and the town has a carnival feel, with shooting ranges, kids rides and other stalls.

Estepona

Unlike many of its coastal neighbours, cultural tradition remains strong in Estepona. With more than 12 miles (20 kilometres) of palm-fringed coastline and a historic old town famously decorated with bright blooms, this harbour town is undoubtedly one of the prettiest on Spain’s Costa del Sol.
